NF Elementary Launches Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program

Newton Falls Elementary School is excited to announce the launch of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) beginning Wednesday, November 19. This initiative brings more opportunities for our Tigers to enjoy healthy, delicious snacks during the school day, completely free of charge.

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is a federally assisted initiative designed specifically for eligible elementary schools. Its mission is simple and powerful – to give students regular access to fresh, wholesome produce while helping them build lifelong healthy habits.

What Students Can Expect

Each week, students will receive a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables to sample. While many offerings will be familiar favorites, others may introduce our Tigers to new and exciting varieties they have never tried before.

This program helps children:

  • Explore new tastes and textures
  • Increase their overall consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce
  • Build an early understanding of healthy choices
  • Enjoy nutritious snacks that support learning and wellness throughout the day

Supporting a Healthy School Environment

The FFVP also aligns perfectly with our district’s commitment to promoting a healthier school environment. Beyond offering these snacks, the program encourages age-appropriate nutrition education, giving students a chance to learn where their food comes from and why healthy eating matters.

At Newton Falls, we believe that well-nourished students are better prepared to learn, grow, and thrive. The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is one more way we support the whole child – academically, socially, and physically.

We look forward to seeing our young Tigers try new foods, share their favorites, and build habits that last a lifetime.

Go Tigers!
