NEWTON FALLS, OH | 19 NOV 2025
This week, the State of Ohio released the value-added data set, and I wanted to update you – our community – on what they are, what they mean, and how we know we’re doing the right thing here in Newton Falls.
These data give us a much better understanding of where, and how, we’re growing kids, and where we need to keep stepping on the gas.
And guess what? Newton Falls knocked it out of the park!
Through the roof, literally, scores in almost all areas shifted right compared to last year, and offer a true testament to our teachers’ dedication to learning, excellence, and continued drive for student achievement in all areas.
The value-added scores tell the story of growth, based on standardized measures of performance on state-assigned assessments.
Typically, these measures happen in the spring, and offer a one-time snapshot of how our students are growing, and if compared to previous cohorts, or groups, have grown over time.
While there will always be work to do to keep high levels of rigor in place, and keep the focus on learning, our staff and students really pushed their limits this past year, and it shows.
I am cautiously optimistic for a 4th star next year, and excited to see our kids continue to learn at high levels in all subject areas.
The data below show BOTH 2024 and (the most recent) 2025 value-added scores. Any value in green indicates expected growth, and values in blue indicate above expected growth. Areas in yellow become areas for opportunity, and continued intervention, support, and focus to make sure we grow all kids in all areas.

High School

The value-added data show what we already know – our teachers are doing what’s best for kids, and focus each day on learning!
I am so proud of our teams here in Newton Falls – our teaching staff who deliver our mission of learning every day, and all of our support staff who make that happen by transporting kids to school, feeding them, and keeping them safe and warm in our beautiful, and well-maintained, school buildings.
Thank you! to our community who delivered a true testament of trust and encouragement in public school by enabling us to keep going with the recent passage of a levy renewal with 57% (n=859).
With your support, our teachers and support staff’s dedication to their craft, Newton Falls is unstoppable, and will continue to deliver on our promise to educate all kids while preparing them for a beautiful future in Ohio, and beyond!
Onward!
