Dear Parent or Guardian,
We are pleased to announce that our school district is partnering with Vision To Learn, a nonprofit organization that provides vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses to students at no cost to families.
What this means for your child
- Students will receive a vision screening at school
- If a screening indicates a need, Vision To Learn’s mobile vision clinic will visit the school
- A licensed independent optometrist will provide a routine eye exam
- If needed, your child will select glasses frames
- Glasses will be delivered to school within approximately three weeks
Eye exams do not involve eye drops or dilation.
Cost and insurance
These services are provided at no cost to families.
If your child has Medicaid, services may be billed to that benefit.
You may receive an Explanation of Benefits, but you will never receive a bill for the exam or glasses.
Already have an eye doctor?
Families may continue care with their own eye care provider. Students who already have a valid prescription may also receive assistance with glasses by submitting the prescription to the school nurse.
Important: Opt-out information
You only need to return the attached form if you do NOT want your child to participate in any vision services.
If we do not receive the opt-out form, your child may participate in the Vision To Learn program if identified as needing services.
Vision plays a vital role in student learning and well-being, and we are excited to offer this opportunity to support our students’ success.
If you have questions, please contact your school nurse or visit www.visiontolearn.org.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
