I can’t say enough about what happens when you combine hungry learners with hands-on expertise. Today, a group of Newton Falls Pathfinders – the student adventure and career-exploration program we launched this year – spent the day diving into the world of HVAC technology with the professionals at Gardiner. And wow… did they deliver!

Students explored everything from the basics of temperature measurement and how air-conditioning systems work, to building mini automated circuits, analyzing real utility data, and even learning how Artificial Intelligence supports heating and cooling efficiency in modern buildings.
There was truly something for every student — and more than a few left saying, “I didn’t know I could do something like this for a career!”

A working lunch with Gardiner’s full team gave students meaningful time to ask questions like:
- What does it take to get into this field?
- What trade or college pathways are available?
- What’s it like to work on real building systems that keep communities healthy and comfortable?
Why HVAC Matters — Especially in Schools
Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) is much more than machinery on a roof. It directly impacts:
- Indoor air quality
- Comfort and focus in the classroom
- Energy efficiency and district sustainability
- Technology-driven building automation and safety
As school districts across the country modernize, the demand for skilled HVAC professionals is rapidly increasing — yet the workforce pipeline is shrinking.

Career fields like HVAC and building technology are high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand, making them excellent paths for students who want hands-on careers with strong earning and advancement potential.
Real-World Exposure. Real-World Possibilities.
Gardiner’s incredible team – led by Jenn Rhinehart – showcased a full range of career opportunities: technical service, engineering, data analytics, sales, customer support, HR, and more.
Students didn’t just hear about these roles… they experienced them. And yes, climbing inside an actual air-handling unit was a highlight!

We are proud to welcome Gardiner as an official Adventure Partner to Newton Falls Schools — helping us open doors, expand horizons, and connect our Tigers to meaningful career pathways.
Here’s to many more student experiences that blend adventure + learning + future careers right here in Northeast Ohio.
Onward!
