NEWTON FALLS, OH – April 9, 2026 – Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools is proud to announce that the district has been recognized with the Momentum Award from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce for its performance on the 2024-2025 Ohio School Report Card.

This award recognizes districts that improved their Performance Index by 3 or more points from the previous year while also earning a Value-Added rating of 4 or more stars.
This recognition is a meaningful reflection of the steady, dedicated work taking place across Newton Falls Schools every single day.
While the award is tied to academic growth data, the story behind it is much bigger. It is about people. It is about consistency. It is about commitment. And above all, it is about students.
“This recognition belongs to our entire school community,” said Andreas Johansson, PhD, Superintendent of Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools. “Our teachers, administrators, support staff, and students have all played a part in creating the kind of environment where growth can happen. This is the result of hard work over time, and we are proud of what it represents.”
The Momentum Award highlights the impact of a district-wide effort to support student learning and continuous improvement.
In Newton Falls, that work is carried out not only in classrooms, but across every part of the organization. Dedicated teachers plan, instruct, encourage, and intervene. Administrators lead buildings, support staff, and help ensure strong systems are in place to move learning forward. Support personnel, including bus drivers, custodians, aides, office staff, food service workers, paraprofessionals, and maintenance staff, help create safe, welcoming, and stable environments where students can succeed.
Every role matters. Every interaction matters. Every day matters.
The district also recognizes the students themselves for the effort required to make this growth possible. Their persistence, engagement, and commitment to learning are at the center of this recognition.
Meaningful progress does not happen overnight. It is built over time through hard work, strong relationships, and a shared belief that growth is always possible.
The award serves as both a celebration of progress and a reminder that success in education is never the work of one person alone. It takes a whole team working together with purpose. At Newton Falls, that team effort continues to make a difference for students each and every day.
Newton Falls Exempted Village Schools remains committed to building on this momentum and continuing the important work of supporting students, strengthening systems, and pursuing excellence in everything we do.
To our staff, thank you for showing up each day with purpose, care, and commitment. This award is a reflection of your work, and I could not be prouder of what we are accomplishing together.
Onward!
