Newton Falls Board of Education and Teachers’ Union Reach Agreement
NEWTON FALLS, OH (August 11, 2025) – The Newton Falls Board of Education and the Newton Falls Classroom Teachers Association (NFCTA) are pleased to announce the successful completion of contract negotiations, capping off a productive series of summer sessions and marking a milestone in collaboration and progress for the district.
This year’s negotiations set a new precedent, with both sides engaging in open, solution-focused discussions across several meetings throughout the spring and summer.
The result: a contract that benefits teachers, students, and the entire school community. The agreement includes substantial salary increases for teachers, along with greater clarity on key contractual language. Educators will receive a 4% salary increase this school year, followed by 3% in 2026 and another 3% in 2027.
“This was truly a groundbreaking process,” said Superintendent Andreas Johansson. “Even during the busy summer months, both the district and NFCTA showed up ready to work together, with a shared commitment to what’s best for our teachers and our students. The result is an agreement that rewards our educators for their dedication while ensuring clarity and consistency in our policies moving forward. This spirit of cooperation is inspiring, and I couldn’t be more excited about the future.”
The NFCTA echoed the sentiment, highlighting the respectful tone and teamwork that defined the process. “These negotiations were a testament to what can be accomplished when both sides approach the table with mutual respect and a focus on solutions,” said Peggy Giuliano, President of NFCTA.
“Our teachers work tirelessly to support our students, and this agreement reflects the value they bring to our schools. We appreciate the district’s willingness to collaborate and look forward to continuing this strong working relationship in the years ahead.”
With this agreement in place, both the district and NFCTA are looking ahead with optimism, united in their commitment to student success. The productive summer sessions and collaborative effort behind this agreement set a promising foundation for continued cooperation and progress in Newton Falls Schools.
